Minnie Mouse Birthday Fun!

Oh boy, do we love birthdays! This weekend we celebrated someone very special who has given us great joy this year, Sophia! Miss Sophia is the princess of the family so we couldn't think of a better way to honor her then by helping her celebrate her 1st birthday with the original Disney Princess, Miss Minnie Mouse.

As soon as the theme was decided for Sophia's birthday, I volunteered to make the pallet. We love to do "minnie" photo sessions with the birthday kid (or adult!) and the themed pallet. Its a great, and much cheaper, alternative to a photo booth. Invite your guests to join the fun and have them take pictures with the pallet too! It would be even better if you created a hashtag on Instagram so you can collect all the pictures after the party! #1stBirthdayFun!

My wonderful helper JayJay bringing Minnie Mouse to life!

If you are feeling really ambitious you can even create some photo booth type props like Mickey and Minnie ears, Mickey Mouse hands and thought bubbles with fun sayings.

For this pallet we used:

1 pallet

1 light pink paint sample from Lowes (the pink is up to you, we tried to match it as closely as possible to the decor!)

1 darker pink paint sample from Lowes to paint the bow

1 black paint sample from Lowes for Minnie's head

We had a larger can left over from other projects which you can see in the picture, but a small paint sample will be more than enough!

Note: The paint samples at Lowes are about $3.00 and really go a long way! Plus the assortment of colors is almost never ending!

The key to success with this pallet is to find appropriately sized circles that you can trace so that the circles stay uniform. We used a side table flipped upside down for the large circle and a large pot cover for the ears. Get creative! I am sure there are plenty of circular things around your home that you can use. Hula hoop? Bike wheel? Pool Float?

This pallet is a perfect way to welcome everyone to Sophia's 1st birthday party! And she'll look pretty cute posing in front of it!

Since we had the welcome pallet already to get everyone in the mood to party Disney style, we had to make the inside of the party come to life too! The Pink Velvet Minnie Mouse cupcakes by Sarah's cupcakes were the perfect addition to the cake room and pulled double duty as a smash cake for Sophia!

Overall, it was the perfectly pink Minnie Mouse Party!
